Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has praised the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) for recording improved investment returns over two consecutive financial years, saying the performance reflects progress in safeguarding workers’ retirement savings.
Atwoli noted that the fund had consistently achieved double-digit investment returns, with its performance improving significantly in the 2024/2025 financial year.
“NSSF has recorded double digits investments returns over two consecutive financial years,” Atwoli said.
He revealed that the fund posted investment returns of approximately 11 per cent in the 2023/2024 financial year before rising to about 17 per cent in 2024/2025.
“Posting returns of approximately 11% in 2023/2024 and 17% in 2024/2025,” he stated.
The COTU boss described the performance as a significant achievement, noting that improved returns are important in efforts to enhance the value of workers’ retirement savings.
“These are important achievements that demonstrate the progress being made towards improving returns on workers’ retirement savings,” Atwoli added.
The improved returns highlight the importance of investment performance in growing members’ savings and strengthening the fund’s ability to support workers when they retire.
