Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has called for stronger collaboration among criminal justice agencies to enhance policing accountability and restore public confidence in Kenya’s justice system.
Ingonga emphasized the need for reliable data, quality investigations and effective coordination among law enforcement and prosecution agencies to ensure the successful administration of justice.
Speaking during an inter-agency collaboration on data and learning oversight and an Executive Committee retreat convened by the International Justice Mission (IJM) in Naivasha, the DPP said credible information and shared learning were essential in promoting professional policing and meaningful accountability.
He noted that successful prosecutions depend on thorough investigations, proper evidence collection, accurate record-keeping and timely referrals between agencies involved in the criminal justice process.
According to Ingonga, strengthening these critical processes would improve the handling of criminal cases, support accountability and ensure justice is effectively delivered.
The DPP further stressed that data collection should go beyond generating statistics to inform institutional reforms, improve decision-making and strengthen public trust in law enforcement agencies.
His remarks highlight the importance of coordinated efforts among criminal justice institutions in addressing accountability gaps and improving the overall efficiency of Kenya’s justice system.
