Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has called on security agencies to urgently establish the whereabouts of advocate Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi following reports of his abduction.
In a statement, Odhiambo expressed concern over the advocate’s reported disappearance, saying establishing his whereabouts and ensuring his safety should be an immediate priority.
She called on Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to act urgently to locate Abdi, secure his safe return and investigate those responsible.
Odhiambo further urged authorities to disclose his whereabouts and the lawful basis for his detention if he is being held in state custody.
She said Abdi’s family and colleagues should not have to plead for answers, insisting that the State has a responsibility to protect advocates.
The former LSK president warned that the reported incident raised serious concerns about access to justice and the safety of legal practitioners.
She maintained that advocates should be able to carry out their professional duties without fear of disappearing, urging authorities to ensure Abdi’s safe return.
