We Will Work With Sifuna and His Team - Rigathi Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has rallied Kenyans supporting Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to join his newly unveiled political party and support its candidates ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Gachagua made the call shortly after Sifuna unveiled The Equitable Party (TEP) on Sunday, October 4, as his political vehicle for the 2027 presidential race.

Sifuna was presented as the party leader and preferred presidential candidate.

Gachagua urged Sifuna to move quickly to popularise the party and recruit strong candidates across areas where it enjoys support.

“I appeal to all those who support the candidature of Senator Edwin Sifuna to join his new party and back aspirants for the various positions under the party,” Gachagua said.

He also encouraged Sifuna to identify strong aspirants who can contest various elective positions under the party’s ticket as preparations for the 2027 polls intensify.

“I encourage you to move with speed to market your new party and identify strong aspirants in your stronghold,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua described Sifuna’s new political vehicle as the beginning of his journey towards national leadership, while congratulating the Nairobi senator on the party’s launch.

The former Deputy President further said the formation of strong political parties would be important in shaping Kenya’s democratic future.

Sifuna’s launch has added another political vehicle to an already crowded opposition landscape, with several parties and leaders positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna has, however, indicated that TEP is expected to undergo a rebranding process to become the Linda Mwananchi Movement, following the reservation of the name by the Registrar of Political Parties.
