Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has thanked Members of Parliament for passing a bill seeking to remove the mandatory livestreaming of election results.

In a statement, Savula welcomed the move, expressing gratitude to MPs for supporting the proposed changes to the electoral law.

“I want to thank MPs for passing the bill to remove mandatory livestreaming of election results,” Savula said.

The proposed changes have sparked debate over electoral transparency and accountability, with supporters and critics differing on the implications of removing the requirement for live transmission of election results.

The development comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding reforms to Kenya’s electoral framework ahead of the 2027 General Election.
