Former Bidco United head coach John Baraza Akhulia has taken charge of Police FC’s training session as the law enforcers prepare for their Kenyan Premier League clash against newcomers Mombasa United on Sunday.
Akhulia, a former Kenya U-20 national team coach, was brought in to oversee the team’s preparations following the dismissal of head coach Nicholas Muyioti and his assistant, John Baraza, on Wednesday.
Police FC are scheduled to face Mombasa United at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa, with the upcoming fixture presenting an immediate test for the team amid changes to its technical bench.
Although Akhulia has already stepped in to lead training, the club is yet to officially announce the terms of his engagement.
It is understood that the experienced tactician will take charge on an interim basis as Police FC seek to stabilise the team following the departure of Muyioti and his assistant.
The changes come as the law enforcers look to maintain focus on their league campaign, with Sunday’s encounter against the newly promoted Mombasa United offering Akhulia an early opportunity to assess the squad and guide the team into action.
