Residents urged to exercise caution after body of missing man recovered from River Lusumu

Residents of Makunga in Mumias East Constituency, Kakamega County, have been urged to exercise caution when crossing rivers following the recovery of the body of a missing man from River Lusumu.

Peter Wakholi Masakhwe had been missing since Monday after leaving his home in Eshiakhulo Village, Malaha Isongo. His body was discovered in the river on Thursday.

Makunga Sub-location Assistant Chief James Rapando confirmed the incident, saying it was not the first time a body had been recovered from the river.

Rapando has called on residents to remain vigilant when crossing rivers, especially with the anticipated El Niño rains, in a bid to prevent drowning incidents and other tragedies.
