Motorists using Waiyaki Way have been advised to prepare for traffic disruptions after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the partial closure of a section of the road for 30 days.

The closure will begin on Thursday, October 8, 2026, and affect the Mombasa-bound carriageway between Villa Rosa Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange.

According to KeNHA, the affected section will remain partially closed until Saturday, November 7, 2026, as contractors undertake highway maintenance works along the busy Nairobi corridor.

The authority said the traffic arrangement is intended to provide space for the maintenance activities while allowing some traffic to continue using the available lanes.

Motorists travelling towards the Central Business District have been encouraged to use the lanes that remain open or consider alternative routes to avoid delays during the construction period.

In a notice signed by KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, drivers were also urged to adhere to the temporary traffic management measures put in place around the affected section.

The authority further called on motorists to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be deployed to guide traffic and manage movement around the work area.

KeNHA warned that motorists should plan their journeys in advance and allow additional travel time, particularly during peak hours when traffic volumes along Waiyaki Way are expected to be high.

The road agency said normal traffic operations will resume once the maintenance works are completed.

The partial closure comes as KeNHA continues maintenance and improvement works on key highways serving Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
