Marine users along the Kenyan coast have been urged to exercise extreme caution following a warning of potentially dangerous sea conditions, with strong winds and high waves expected in some coastal and offshore waters.
The advisory indicates that east-south-easterly to south-south-westerly winds will affect the region, with speeds ranging between 4 and 24 knots (2–12 metres per second).
Sea conditions are expected to range from light to rough, with locally very rough seas possible in areas experiencing stronger winds and higher waves.
The warning highlights potential risks for fishermen, mariners and other sea users, particularly those operating small boats and vessels in exposed waters where worsening conditions could pose safety challenges.
Small-boat operators and other vessels navigating affected areas have been advised to take appropriate safety precautions and closely monitor official marine weather updates.
Mariners and fishers are also urged to remain vigilant and prioritise safety when planning activities at sea, especially in areas where rough to very rough conditions are expected.
