The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has invited members of the public to propose a name for Kenya’s crude oil ahead of a planned first-oil milestone on December 1, 2026.
The government said the proposed name should reflect Kenya’s national identity, promote national pride and be suitable for international branding and trademark registration.
Submissions must include the proposed name and an explanation of its meaning, with the deadline set for October 29, 2026.
The naming exercise is intended to give Kenya’s crude oil a distinct commercial identity as the country prepares to advance its petroleum production plans.
