The Ministry of Health has held consultations with development and health sector partners to strengthen Kenya’s response to Ebola Virus Disease amid efforts to contain transmission and protect communities.

The meeting brought together the Development Partners for Health in Kenya (DPHK), Health NGOs Network (HENNET), Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF) and Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) to review the evolving Ebola situation and identify priority areas requiring urgent support.

According to the Ministry, discussions focused on national response priorities, existing funding gaps and strategies to mobilise and align partner resources to reinforce the country’s preparedness and response capacity.

Key areas identified for support include disease surveillance, contact tracing, laboratory testing, case management, infection prevention and control, and community engagement.

The consultations also sought to strengthen coordination between the government and its partners to ensure resources are directed towards critical interventions in the fight against the disease.

“The Ministry reaffirms the importance of coordinated action, timely resource mobilisation and strong partnerships to contain transmission, protect health workers and communities, and strengthen national preparedness,” the Ministry of Health said.

The Ministry emphasised that effective collaboration among government agencies, health organisations and communities remains essential in containing the disease and safeguarding public health.

It further reiterated its commitment to a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, bringing together different sectors and stakeholders to strengthen the national response.

“Through a coordinated, whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, we remain committed to protecting the health and safety of all Kenyans,” the Ministry stated.
