A motorbike rider has died following a head-on collision involving a lorry along the Kabarnet–Kabartonjo Road in Baringo County early Friday morning.
The fatal accident occurred in the Kator area, where the motorcycle reportedly collided with the lorry after the rider attempted to overtake another vehicle.
According to eyewitness Daniel Kibet, the motorcyclist was travelling at high speed when the motorcycle allegedly lost control and crashed head-on into the oncoming lorry.
Police officers from Kabarnet Police Station visited the scene and have launched investigations to establish the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
The accident has renewed calls for motorists using the busy route to exercise caution, particularly due to its sharp corners, which make speeding and risky overtaking manoeuvres dangerous.
Drivers have been urged to observe traffic rules, maintain safe speeds and avoid dangerous overtaking to prevent further loss of lives.
The rider’s body was moved to the mortuary at Baringo County Referral Hospital in Kabarnet as police investigations continue.
