A family in Bomani estate, Mumias town, Kakamega County, is appealing for government intervention to help locate their two-year-old daughter, Abigael Amani, who allegedly went missing while in the care of a woman they had offered shelter.
The family, led by the child’s mother, Sarah Nanjala, says they have been searching for the girl for three months without success.
According to Nanjala, the ordeal began when she met a woman identified as Aliya at the OTC bus terminus in Nairobi. Aliya reportedly told her she needed assistance after travelling from Kapchorwa, Uganda.
Nanjala said she took Aliya to Mukuru kwa Reuben Police Station before later agreeing, following advice from police, to accommodate her temporarily as efforts were made to find her assistance.
About a month later, Nanjala’s family and Aliya travelled to Mumias. The mother alleges that Aliya subsequently disappeared with her daughter.
The family says it reported the matter to Mumias Police Station, but efforts to trace the child have so far been unsuccessful.
They are now appealing to the government and relevant authorities to intervene and help establish the child’s whereabouts and reunite her with her family.
