A Narok man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of defiling his 10-year-old daughter in a case prosecuted by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The sentence was handed down by Narok Chief Magistrate H. Nyaberi at the Narok Law Courts after the prosecution, led by Prosecution Counsel Leone Wandera, successfully proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

According to court proceedings, the man committed the offence on diverse dates between 2024 and February 2026 in the Bulla Kipangas area of Narok Central.

In reaching the conviction, the court relied on the child’s testimony, which placed the accused at the scene, alongside evidence presented by four prosecution witnesses. The child also identified the accused as her father.

The court further considered medical evidence presented by a doctor, including a P3 form and treatment notes, which corroborated the child’s account.

In her ruling, Magistrate Nyaberi condemned the betrayal of parental responsibility, noting that the accused was expected to protect his daughter but instead subjected her to sexual abuse.

“The court has considered the offence and the relationship between the accused and the complainant. This is a father and daughter relationship and as such, the accused was required to protect her, but instead he is the one who preyed on her,” ruled Nyaberi.

The magistrate noted that the victim was below 11 years at the time of the offence, a factor considered in sentencing under Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act.

The ODPP said the conviction and life sentence followed successful prosecution of the case, underscoring the legal consequences of defilement involving children.
