The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has intensified efforts to strengthen collaboration with National Government administrators in Nyanza Region to improve access to justice and uphold the rule of law.

The initiative was led by ODPP Nyanza Regional Head and Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DDPP) Daniel Karuri, who on Wednesday paid courtesy visits to Kisumu County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabudzo and Nyanza Regional Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha at their respective offices.

During the meetings, the officials discussed ways of enhancing inter-agency cooperation to improve justice delivery and address emerging security and governance challenges across the region.

Key areas of discussion included prudent utilisation of public resources, the fight against corruption, improved security and promoting integrity among public officers.

The leaders also explored areas of cooperation ahead of the upcoming Chapa Gumzo na Prosecutor Community Dialogue Forum on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), scheduled to be held in Kisumu later this month.

The forum, organised by the ODPP in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), aims to raise public awareness of the prosecution agency’s mandate while providing an opportunity for direct engagement between prosecutors and members of the public.

It will also provide a platform for discussions on GBV and technology-facilitated abuse, with a focus on strengthening public understanding and access to justice for victims.

The engagements form part of ODPP’s broader efforts to build stronger partnerships with government agencies and stakeholders in promoting accountability, security and the rule of law.
