Police officers in Laikipia West Sub-County have seized and destroyed 1,710 litres of illicit brew in a crackdown targeting illegal alcohol production in Rumuruti.

The operation was conducted earlier today in several villages within Lorian Location, Rumuruti Division, as part of ongoing efforts to curb the production and distribution of illicit alcohol.

According to the National Police Service, officers confiscated and destroyed 1,710 litres of Kangara, an illicit alcoholic brew, during the operation.

The security team also dismantled and destroyed six active illegal brewing dens and seized assorted equipment used in the distillation process.

The operation forms part of a broader effort by police to combat the production, distribution and consumption of illicit brews.

The National Police Service said it would continue intensifying operations across the country to disrupt illegal alcohol production and distribution.
