President William Ruto has intensified his efforts to win the support of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 General Election, appealing to the former vice president’s supporters to remind him of their political history.
Speaking during a development tour in Kalonzo’s political stronghold, Ruto recalled that Kalonzo had received his support in 1992, when the President was associated with the KANU ’92 (K’92) faction.
Ruto urged Kalonzo to remember the political support he received at the time and consider backing his presidential bid in the forthcoming election.
The President made the appeal while addressing a public rally following the launch of development projects and the initiation of the Tsiekuru road project in Kalonzo’s home region.
Ruto also turned to Kalonzo’s supporters, asking them to remind the Wiper leader of their past political association as he seeks to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The appeal signals Ruto’s efforts to broaden his political support base beyond his traditional strongholds as the country moves closer to the next General Election.
The political overture comes as leaders begin positioning themselves for the 2027 contest, with alliances and negotiations expected to play a significant role in shaping the presidential race.
