President William Ruto has criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over allegations of a corruption scheme involving mineral deposits in Kwale County.
During an interview with Coast journalists at State House in Mombasa, Ruto appeared to sidestep a direct question on the Kwale minerals while accusing Gachagua of bringing politics into the matter.
The President dismissed the allegations and said his administration was working to ensure mining investors across the country operate in ways that benefit local communities.
Ruto said the government would continue seeking to ensure residents in mineral-rich areas benefit from the resources found in their regions.
