President William Ruto says the government will engage university lecturers and address their grievances.
Speaking to Coast-based radio stations, Ruto acknowledged the critical role lecturers play in providing education and training skilled professionals, saying the government is committed to finding a solution to the dispute.
The President noted that some of the lecturers’ concerns were inherited from previous administrations but said his government would nonetheless work to resolve them.
Ruto also promised stronger measures against drug trafficking, saying security agencies will be given the capacity needed to combat the illegal trade.
On land ownership, the President urged beneficiaries receiving title deeds at the Coast and elsewhere in the country not to sell their land but instead use it to secure their families’ future and support development.
He said title deeds should provide a foundation for land ownership and development, rather than short-term financial gains through the sale of property.
Ruto said his administration would continue addressing the concerns of Coast residents while improving security and ensuring the country’s resources are put to productive use.
