Shuga Global has appointed former Citizen TV journalist Yvonne Okwara as its Head of Investments and Partnerships as the organisation expands its global reach and seeks to strengthen its long-term sustainability.
In an announcement, the organisation described Okwara as a corporate communications expert with experience in fundraising and government relations.
Shuga Global said Okwara would use her expertise in business, policy and social impact to build strategic partnerships, unlock funding opportunities and mobilise resources.
The organisation said the appointment comes as it rebrands and expands its operations, with a focus on reducing reliance on grant funding and creating sustainable opportunities for the communities it serves.
Okwara’s experience in journalism and media, alongside her work in communications and development partnerships, is expected to support Shuga Global’s mission of empowering young people, which spans two decades.
The appointment follows Okwara’s departure from Citizen TV, where she spent more than eight years covering major national issues and hosting programmes including The Explainer and News Gang.
