Kenyan skater Kevin Kiarie Ruhiu has reaffirmed his intention to contest the Roysambu Constituency parliamentary seat in the August 10, 2027 General Election, pledging to champion youth opportunities and address challenges facing residents.
In a statement shared on social media, Ruhiu said his commitment to serving the people of Roysambu remained firm, promising to give the constituency a stronger voice in national leadership.
“Today I would like to reaffirm the promise I made to the people of Roysambu Constituency. I promised to offer myself to serve, that commitment still stands strong and unshaken,” he stated.
Ruhiu described Roysambu as a cosmopolitan constituency with untapped potential in business, education, infrastructure and healthcare, saying the area needed leadership that could help unlock these opportunities.
The skater also placed youth empowerment at the centre of his agenda, arguing that young people in Kenya had significant opportunities that needed to be supported and protected.
He pledged to advocate for fellow athletes and protect young people’s ambitions from what he termed broken systems, promising to push for an environment where hardworking youths could pursue their dreams.
“I shall serve, I shall deliver, I will protect the dreams of our hardworking youths and my fellow constituents from being shattered by broken systems,” Ruhiu said.
The aspiring legislator further pledged inclusive leadership, saying he would serve all residents without discrimination if elected, regardless of their backgrounds.
His declaration comes as political activity gradually builds towards the 2027 General Election, with aspirants positioning themselves for elective seats across the country.
Ruhiu concluded his message by expressing gratitude to Kenyans who have supported him from different parts of the country, while reiterating his determination to represent Roysambu in Parliament
As the race for Roysambu takes shape, his proposed agenda places youth empowerment, sports advocacy, improved public services and inclusive representation among the key issues he says he intends to pursue.
