U.S. President Donald Trump sparked laughter and cheers at a campaign rally in Michigan after making a joke about rapper Nicki Minaj’s backside before quickly adding that he hoped she had not been offended by his remarks.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Port Huron, Michigan, where Trump appeared alongside Minaj at a Republican campaign event ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. The rally was organised to support Republican candidates, including Senate hopeful Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate John James.

While addressing the crowd, Trump shifted from discussing his recent comments about Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique to complimenting Minaj, who was seated among the attendees.

“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj,” Trump said, drawing cheers from the audience.

He then asked the rapper to stand up, repeating that her appearance was “hard to miss” as the crowd reacted.

Realising that his remarks could have been taken as offensive, Trump quickly returned to his speech, saying: “OK, I’m going to get back to my story, Nicki. I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time.”

Minaj stood up and waved to the cheering crowd during the exchange.

Beyond the light-hearted exchange, Minaj used her appearance to publicly reaffirm her support for Trump and the Republican Party as the United States approaches the midterm elections.

The rapper praised the president’s leadership, telling the audience that he had “changed the energy of our country” and given Americans “a future to look forward to.” She also urged voters to support Republican candidates Mike Rogers and John James in Michigan.

Minaj concluded her remarks by telling Trump that she would continue supporting him.

“President Trump, it is an honour to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever. If you run again, I will support you again,” she said.

The appearance highlights Minaj’s increasingly visible involvement in American politics. Although she previously criticised some of Trump’s policies during his first term, she has more recently expressed strong support for his administration.

The Michigan rally comes as Republicans and Democrats intensify their campaigns ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, which will determine control of Congress for the remainder of Trump’s presidency.
