A man who had been wanted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged cybercrime offences has been arrested and remanded in custody after appearing before the court.
Albert Komen Kipkechem was arrested after warrants were issued by the Milimani Law Courts following his failure to attend subsequent court sessions.
Komen was charged at the Milimani Law Courts on March 3 and March 12, 2026, with offences of access with intent to commit a further offence and computer fraud.
The charges were brought under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.
He had initially been released on cash bail of KSh1.5 million in one case and KSh500,000 in the other.
However, his failure to appear in court resulted in warrants being issued for his arrest.
Following his arrest and arraignment, the court cancelled his bond and ordered that he be remanded in custody.
The DCI had earlier appealed to the public for information on Komen’s whereabouts as it sought to enforce the arrest warrants.
Komen remains subject to the criminal proceedings, and the allegations against him have not been proved in court.
