Motorsport Kenya Federation (MK-F) has held talks with Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi on the future of motorsport and preparations for the upcoming World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.
The meeting, held at Talanta Plaza on Tuesday, focused on strengthening motorsport in Kenya, including the development of national competitions and opportunities for young people seeking careers in the sport.
MK-F was represented by Vice President and WRC CEO Carl Tundo, Secretary General Eric Bengi and Motorsports Council Chairman Mindo Gatimu.
The federation said discussions also centred on restoring Kenya’s position as a leading motorsport destination in the region while strengthening its presence on the international stage.
The upcoming Safari Rally featured prominently in the discussions as Kenya prepares to host another round of the WRC, one of the country’s major international sporting events.
MK-F said its plans extend beyond international competition, with a focus on rebuilding the domestic motorsport ecosystem and creating opportunities for young Kenyans to participate and develop professional careers.
The federation said it wants to strengthen pathways for emerging drivers and other motorsport professionals while supporting the long-term growth of the sport.
The meeting comes as stakeholders continue to assess how Kenya can leverage the Safari Rally and other motorsport events to strengthen the country’s sporting profile and develop local talent.
