Detectives from Gigiri have arrested a suspect linked to a violent robbery in Parklands, Nairobi, that was captured in a viral video.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspect as Obed Makori, who was arrested along the Northern Bypass following an intelligence-led operation.
According to detectives, the suspect and his accomplices were captured on video attacking a member of the public and stealing his valuables before fleeing the scene.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly dropped a firearm, which was recovered by police and secured as an exhibit.
The DCI said Makori had remained at large following the robbery until detectives tracked him down in the latest operation.
He is being held in custody as police process the case ahead of his arraignment in court.
Detectives are continuing investigations to identify and arrest the other suspects who remain at large.
The DCI said it remained committed to pursuing violent crime suspects and dismantling criminal networks.
