President William Ruto has held a series of high-level meetings with international partners on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, focusing on sports development, healthcare, investment and technology.

Ruto met FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss strengthening football development in Kenya through the establishment of regional technical centres to identify and nurture young talent.

The proposed centres are expected to support grassroots football and create clearer pathways for aspiring Kenyan players. The President also highlighted the government’s investment in sports infrastructure, including the construction of 32 new stadia across the country.

In another meeting, Ruto held discussions with His Highness the Aga Khan on deepening the longstanding partnership between Kenya and the Aga Khan Development Network, particularly in healthcare, education and other areas of development.

The President also met Bloomberg founder Michael Bloomberg, where they explored cooperation in public health, clean energy and climate action. Discussions included plans for a Green Technology Accelerator Hub in Kenya and collaboration on the second Clean Cooking Summit, scheduled for Nairobi in January 2027.

Ruto further met Cisco Executive Vice President Francine Katsoudas to discuss the Moran AI and Cyber Center of Excellence, a Kenya Defence Forces initiative focused on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and emerging technologies.

The discussions also covered Cisco’s potential support for the Accra Reset agenda, which promotes investment, job creation, digital skills and stronger domestic capacity in Africa.
