Activist Boniface Mulinge Muteti has reportedly been found alive in Mlolongo, days after his alleged arrest and disappearance during protests in Nairobi.
Muteti was reportedly dumped in the area before being rushed to a hospital in Athi River for treatment.
His reported disappearance had led to a petition filed at the Milimani Law Courts, seeking to compel the police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to disclose his whereabouts.
The petition, filed by Francis Awino, alleged that Muteti was arrested on September 21 during demonstrations linked to the continued detention of Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
Awino had asked the court to order the authorities to produce Muteti and provide records relating to his alleged arrest, detention, transfer or release.
A disappearance report was also reportedly filed at a police station on September 23 under OB Number 46.
The latest report that Muteti has been found alive has not provided details of where he was held, the circumstances of his recovery or his current medical condition.
