The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has suspended trading in NCBA Group shares and related futures contracts to facilitate the transfer of a 66 per cent stake in the lender to South Africa’s Nedbank Group.
The suspension took effect after the close of trading on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, following confirmation that Nedbank’s takeover offer had become unconditional.
NCBA said the suspension would remain in place until the close of business on Monday, November 2, to allow for the reconciliation of its share register.
Trading is expected to resume on Tuesday, November 3, when the transfer of shares to Nedbank is scheduled to be executed through a block trade on the NSE.
Nedbank’s acquisition of the controlling stake marks a significant expansion of its presence in East Africa.
NCBA, however, will remain listed on the Nairobi bourse and retain its brand, local leadership and existing customer-facing operations following the transaction.
The lender has said its banking services, branches and digital platforms will continue operating as usual during the transition.
