Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has visited former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence as opposition leaders continue consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua welcomed Wamalwa in a brief message shared on social media, accompanied by the phrase “Mambo ni pole pole,” a Swahili expression suggesting that things are progressing gradually.
The visit comes amid ongoing discussions among opposition leaders on the possibility of settling on a single presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the next general election.
Gachagua recently said he had held talks with Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and party officials on forming the next administration, adding that consultations on a joint presidential candidate would continue.
Wamalwa’s visit adds to the engagements taking place among opposition figures as they explore areas of cooperation ahead of the polls.
However, no details have been released on the discussions between Gachagua and Wamalwa, and neither leader has announced an agreement on a presidential candidate.
