France is bracing for further demonstrations and rallies on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, amid heightened security concerns following recent violent protests that resulted in widespread property destruction and looting.
Numerous groups have called for demonstrations across the country, raising concerns over possible disruptions to public order, transport and movement, particularly in major urban centres.
Recent protests reportedly involved heavy property damage, uncontrolled looting and attacks on police officers, prompting security agencies to deploy crowd-control measures, including tear gas, to disperse demonstrators.
Authorities have also warned that demonstrations may take place outside city centres, with protest routes potentially changing at short notice.
Although organisers may submit proposed demonstration routes for approval, last-minute adjustments could result in gatherings occurring in areas not initially designated for protests.
Meanwhile, curfews imposed in parts of France, including selected neighbourhoods in Paris and its surrounding areas, could remain in force.
The curfews are determined by local authorities and may be introduced or extended at short notice, restricting public gatherings and movement in designated areas, including around certain public landmarks.
Residents and visitors have been advised to remain alert, monitor local announcements and avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place as France prepares for another weekend of potential unrest.
