Linda Mwananchi Movement Chairperson-designate Geodfrey Osotsi has declared the movement’s support for a united opposition, saying it is the only viable strategy to remove President William Ruto from power in the 2027 General Election.
Osotsi said the movement believes opposition leaders must work together and consolidate their political strength if they are to defeat Ruto at the ballot.
“Linda Mwananchi believes in a united opposition. That is the only way to unseat President William Ruto,” Osotsi stated.
He revealed that the formation of a political party was not part of the movement’s original plans, noting that the initiative had taken a different direction over the past seven months.
“Seven months ago, we did not know that we would have a political party,” he said.
Osotsi also launched a scathing attack on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), claiming that the party had shifted its political direction following the death of its former leader, Raila Odinga.
“After the death of Baba, ODM became an appendage of the Executive,” he alleged, suggesting that the party had lost its independence and political identity.
The Chairperson-designate further disclosed that the Linda Mwananchi Movement was seeking to establish offices across all 47 counties, citing growing interest in its political activities.
“As we speak, everyone wants to have Linda Mwananchi offices in all the 47 counties,” he said.
Osotsi also issued a stern warning against individuals he considers disloyal to the movement’s political agenda, particularly those who may undermine Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
“If anyone among us betrays Edwin Sifuna, we will come for you. We want people who are loyal to the cause,” he warned.
His remarks signal the movement’s intention to build a nationwide political structure while positioning itself within the broader opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 General Election.
