National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohammed has publicly challenged President William Ruto over the handling of the broad-based government arrangement, calling on the Head of State to respect the political partners who agreed to work with his administration.
In his remarks, Junet questioned why opposition leaders were invited into the government arrangement if the President intended to make decisions and run the administration independently.
“Wewe Ruto tuheshimiane bwana. Kama unataka kutengeneza serikali peke yako, mbona ulituita basi? Ungetuacha tuendelee kukaa kwa barabara!” Junet said.
The remarks appeared to express his dissatisfaction with how the broad-based government arrangement is being managed, with Junet insisting that political cooperation should be accompanied by mutual respect.
His comments also raise questions about the expectations and working relationship between the political factions that came together under the broad-based government framework.
