The United States Embassy in France has issued a security alert warning of nationwide demonstrations and transport disruptions scheduled for Thursday, November 5, amid growing labour unrest across the country.
The planned multi-sector strike is expected to involve teachers, healthcare workers, government employees and public transport workers.
Four major railway unions have also called for a joint national strike, raising the possibility of widespread disruptions to train services.
In a security advisory, the embassy said several other groups had called for demonstrations on November 5 and throughout the weekend.
Authorities have approved some demonstration routes outside city centres, although the embassy warned that protests could also take place in areas beyond the designated routes.
The advisory further cautioned that recent demonstrations had turned violent, involving property destruction and looting.
It also warned that curfews could remain in force in parts of France, including some neighbourhoods in Paris and surrounding areas.
The embassy noted that curfew decisions are made by local authorities and could be introduced at short notice, potentially restricting public gatherings and movement around certain landmarks.
Travellers and residents were advised to avoid demonstration areas and large gatherings as the country braces for further protests.
The alert comes amid continued tensions between labour groups and authorities, with the planned industrial action expected to affect several essential services.
