Police Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang has been formally charged with the murder of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, who was fatally shot in Nairobi on July 29, 2026.

Sang, who was arrested in Eldoret in connection with the killing, appeared before the Milimani High Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

The prosecution informed the court of its intention to oppose his release on bail and undertook to file an affidavit outlining the grounds for its objection.

Following the plea-taking, Sang was remanded at Industrial Area Remand Prison pending further directions on his bail application.

The case is scheduled for mention on November 30, 2026.

Dr Mutiso was shot dead along Mawensi Road in Kilimani, Nairobi, on the morning of July 29, 2026.

Sang joins other individuals charged in connection with the killing, including Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her children Chris and Angela Mulwa, and police constables Julius Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemoi Borboroi.

Investigations into the murder are ongoing as detectives pursue leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and the alleged involvement of those charged.

The accused persons have pleaded or are presumed not guilty unless and until proven otherwise in court.
