Lecturers in public universities have threatened to resume industrial action if the government fails to address concerns over university funding and provide a clear plan for settling outstanding bills.
The warning comes days after lecturers returned to work following a month-long strike that disrupted learning in public universities.
The strike was called off after the government agreed to a Sh20 billion deal covering the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
However, the lecturers have maintained that the agreement does not resolve all the challenges facing public universities, particularly concerns over funding and accumulated pending bills.
They are now calling on the government to provide clarity on how the outstanding financial obligations will be addressed, warning that failure to do so could trigger another round of protests and industrial action.
