Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has praised the players’ attitude and commitment after guiding the record Kenyan champions to victory against Murang’a Seal in the new season opener at Nyayo National Stadium.
Akonnor was pleased with how K’Ogalo controlled the game but admitted that the goals conceded remain an area of concern that the team must address as the season progresses.
“Our attitude in how we played and took control was good. We took control of the game and stabilised,” Akonnor said after the match.
The Ghanaian tactician also commended his players for their collective effort, insisting that their performance provides a strong foundation for the challenges ahead.
“All the boys played well today. They showed commitment in today’s game, and we can build on from there,” he added.
Despite the positive result, Akonnor stressed the need for defensive improvements, identifying the goals conceded as an aspect his technical bench must work on to ensure the team becomes more solid in subsequent matches.
The victory gives Gor Mahia an encouraging start to the new campaign as they seek to build momentum and maintain their status among Kenya’s leading football clubs.
