The death toll from the Eastleigh building collapse in Nairobi has risen to five after rescue teams discovered three more bodies in the rubble.

Two bodies were spotted on Wednesday night, November 4, as multi-agency teams continued searching through debris at the site of the building that collapsed on October 23.

A third body was spotted at approximately 6:30am on Thursday, November 5, with rescue personnel working to retrieve it.

The latest discoveries bring the number of bodies recovered from the site to five, nearly two weeks after the multi-storey building came down along 9th Street in Eastleigh.

The recovery operation has continued as teams clear the rubble and search for people who may still be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.

Four people had previously been rescued alive, while the identities of the latest victims were yet to be established.

The building, which was still under construction at the time of the collapse, triggered a multi-agency response involving emergency personnel and security teams.

Authorities have continued urging members of the public to keep away from the affected site to allow rescue and recovery operations to proceed.
