The multi-agency rescue team leading recovery operations at the Eastleigh building collapse site has completed 95 per cent of the exercise, with efforts ongoing to clear the remaining debris and account for all persons reported missing.
In an update shared on X, the Ministry of Interior said the operation was nearing completion, as emergency responders continued working to ensure that every missing person is accounted for.
The ministry noted that post-mortem examinations and formal identification of victims whose bodies have been recovered are ongoing at the Nairobi City Mortuary.
The ongoing identification process is expected to help establish the identities of the victims and provide clarity to families awaiting confirmation of their missing relatives.
The multi-agency team continues to work at the scene as the government seeks to bring the recovery operation to a conclusion.
