Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a robbery with violence and gang rape incident involving a young woman and her boyfriend in the Kangemi area of Nairobi.
The arrests followed intelligence-led operations conducted by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), Dagoretti, alongside the Operations Action Team (OAT) based at DCI Headquarters.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident occurred on the night of November 1, 2026, when the couple were walking to purchase foodstuffs before they were confronted by a gang of approximately five men, one of whom was armed with a knife.
The gang allegedly overpowered the couple and forced them into Kiuru Forest, where they attacked them.
The boyfriend sustained serious injuries and was robbed of his mobile phone but managed to escape. His female companion was allegedly held against her will and gang-raped before being released in the early hours of the following morning.
The survivor subsequently sought medical attention at Muthua Dispensary.
Following investigations and intelligence gathering, detectives launched coordinated operations that resulted in the arrest of three suspects in Kangemi, while a fourth suspect was tracked down and apprehended in Banana, Kiambu County.
The suspects were identified as Bradley Chahasi alias Bura, Kelvin Madaraka Afundi alias Mada Soka, Joash Etabale Omollo alias Vinny, and Hannington Anangwe Musiria alias Toh.
During the operation, detectives also recovered a SIM card and a mobile phone allegedly used to receive money from the victim, which investigators believe could provide crucial leads in the case.
The four suspects were subsequently presented before the Makadara Law Courts, where detectives obtained 14-day custodial orders to allow further investigations.
