ODM Deputy Party Leader Junet Mohammed has challenged President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), declaring that the ruling party cannot form the next government without the support of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking in Garissa, Junet questioned why Ruto brought ODM into his broad-based government if UDA was strong enough to secure victory independently in the 2027 General Election.
The Suna East MP expressed confidence in ODM’s political influence, arguing that the party remains a critical player in determining the country’s next political leadership.
“Chama yako UDA haiwezi tengeneza serikali 2027 bila ODM. Na kama unadhani inaweza, mbona ulituita kwa serikali yako?” Junet posed.
He went on to deliver a direct message to the President, insisting that UDA could not form the next government on its own.
“Mimi nasema hapa Garissa wazi, UDA haiwezi tengeneza serikali,” he declared.
Junet’s remarks highlight the growing political debate over ODM’s role in the broad-based government and the potential shape of political alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
His comments also raise questions about whether the cooperation between UDA and ODM will translate into a formal electoral alliance as the country moves closer to the next polls.
