Defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are one victory away from securing their place in the final of the National Women’s Basketball Premier League after taking a commanding 2-0 lead over TH3 Swish in their best-of-five semifinal playoff series.
The Dockers strengthened their grip on the semifinal with a 62-49 victory over Swish in Game Two at Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi, building on their dominant 80-42 win in the opening game a day earlier.
KPA’s back-to-back victories have put the defending champions firmly in control of the tie as they look to return to the league final and continue their title defence.
The series now heads to Mombasa, where KPA will have home-court advantage for Game Three at Makande Gymnasium tomorrow.
With a 2-0 advantage, KPA require just one more win to complete the series and book their place in the final.
Swish, meanwhile, face a must-win situation as they seek to keep their championship hopes alive.
They will need to win Game Three to force the series to continue.
If necessary, Game Four will be played on Sunday, while a decisive Game Five is scheduled for Monday.
KPA will be hoping to finish the job on home soil, while Swish must produce a major response in Mombasa to prevent the defending champions from sealing the semifinal series.
