Harambee Starlets head coach Godfrey Oduor has recalled Jentrix Shikangwa and Corazone Aquino to the national team fold after naming a 43-player provisional squad for the 2028 CAF Women’s Olympic qualifiers against Seychelles.

Shikangwa, who turns out for Egyptian side FC Masar, and Tanzania-based Simba Queens midfielder Aquino were among the notable omissions from the Harambee Starlets squad that represented Kenya at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) under former head coach Beldine Odemba.

Their return provides Oduor with additional experience as Kenya begins its campaign to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Panetolikos GFS forward Catherine Khaemba has also been recalled after missing the WAFCON tournament through injury.

Oduor has further rewarded five players with their maiden call-ups as he looks to build a squad capable of navigating the two-legged first-round encounter against Seychelles.

The first leg is scheduled for October 8 in Seychelles, with the return match set for October 12 at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium.

The 43-player provisional squad will be trimmed ahead of the two matches as Kenya seeks to progress to the next stage of the Olympic qualification campaign.

The aggregate winner over the two legs will advance, with the African qualification process eventually producing two teams that will represent the continent at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

For Starlets, the Seychelles tie marks the beginning of a new qualification journey under Oduor, who will be looking to blend established internationals with the new faces handed an opportunity to impress on the national stage.
