Tributes have poured in from across Kenya’s political leadership following the death of Mzee Mohamed Achani, father of Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani.
President William Ruto, Kipchumba Murkomen and Salim Mvurya were among the leaders who shared condolence messages on X, many with a black-and-white memorial portrait of the late elder wearing a white kofia.
In his message, President Ruto offered his condolences to the Governor and said the nation’s prayers were with her, her family and the entire county “during this painful time.” He signed off with “Rest In Peace, Mzee Achani.”
Murkomen extended his “deepest condolences” to the Governor, her family and the people of Kwale County. He wished them God’s comfort and care and prayed that Mzee Achani would “rest in eternal peace.” His post had drawn about 1,100 views within minutes.
Mvurya, whose message opened with the Islamic phrase Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un, described the late Mzee Achani as the county’s “beloved patriarch.” He prayed that Allah would forgive the elder’s shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and give the bereaved family “strength, patience and comfort.”
Mvurya said Mzee Achani will be laid to rest today, Monday, 19 October 2026, at 4:00 PM in Bodo, Ramisi, Kwale County. The messages did not state his age or the cause of death.
