Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030, the Premier League champions have confirmed.

The new deal rewards the Spanish tactician for overseeing a remarkable transformation of the Gunners since taking charge in December 2019.

Arteta guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season, ending a long wait for the club’s biggest domestic prize. He has also helped establish the Gunners as regular contenders for major honours in England and Europe.

The 44-year-old had entered the final year of his previous contract, but negotiations progressed in recent weeks before the club officially confirmed the extension on Wednesday.

Arteta expressed his delight at continuing the project in north London, describing it as a privilege to remain at a club he believes has significant potential for further success.

“This is only the beginning,” Arteta said after committing his future to Arsenal.

The extension provides Arsenal with stability as they seek to defend their Premier League crown and build on their progress in European competition.

Arteta’s tenure has already included an FA Cup triumph, two Community Shield victories and the historic Premier League title. Arsenal also reached the Champions League final last season, und8erlining the club’s emergence as a force at the top level of European football.

With his new contract running until 2030, Arteta is now set to oversee the next phase of Arsenal’s project as the club targets more domestic and European silverware.

The contract extension also reinforces the confidence of Arsenal’s hierarchy in Arteta’s long-term vision and his ability to continue developing the club both on and off the pitch.
