The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has unveiled a 53-athlete delegation that will represent the country at the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, scheduled for October 31 to November 13.
The competition will feature 25 sports, with Kenya seeking to broaden its medal prospects by fielding athletes in disciplines beyond athletics.
Team Kenya Chef de Mission Angelah Luchivia said the decision to diversify into different sports is aimed at expanding the country’s chances of winning medals at the Games.
Luchivia also revealed that athletes who are still in school will join a residential training camp in Mombasa on Monday next week as preparations intensify ahead of the competition.
Team Kenya Head of Operations Kerubo Momanyi expressed confidence that the squad would reach peak form before travelling to Dakar.
Kenya has won 15 medals at the Summer Youth Olympic Games, comprising eight gold, three silver and four bronze medals. All the medals have come from athletics.
The 2026 edition presents an opportunity for the country to build on that record while testing its strength across a wider range of sporting disciplines.
