Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has paid tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, recalling his teachings on people-centred leadership and the importance of persuasion in politics.
Sifuna said Raila, popularly known as Baba, instilled in leaders the need to prioritise the welfare of citizens whenever making decisions affecting the country.
“We will never forget how Baba taught us to put the lives and welfare of our people first whenever we make decisions,” Sifuna stated.
The senator also highlighted Raila’s political philosophy, saying the veteran opposition leader believed that politics should be driven by persuasion rather than coercion.
“He taught us that politics is about persuasion, and it should never be forced,” Sifuna added.
Sifuna’s remarks highlighted Raila’s leadership legacy and his approach to political engagement, which emphasised winning people’s support through persuasion.
The tribute comes as leaders and supporters reflect on Raila’s influence on Kenya’s political landscape and the lessons he imparted to those who worked alongside him.
