President William Ruto has toured a smart city development on the outskirts of Moscow, Russia, as Kenya explores new approaches to urban development and sustainable housing.
In a post on his X account, Ruto said the project, spearheaded by Sberbank Group, Russia’s largest financial conglomerate, offered lessons for Kenya on integrating technology into public service delivery and improving living standards.
The 1,140-acre development features 65,000 housing units, office spaces, a waste management facility, a hospital, schools and environmentally sustainable infrastructure.
Ruto said the project demonstrated approaches to urban planning that combine housing, public services and technology within a single development.
The visit forms part of the President’s engagements in Russia, where Kenya is exploring lessons and potential areas of cooperation in development and infrastructure.
