Standard Group PLC has announced the resignation of its Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chaacha Mwita, who will leave the media house on 1 November 2026.

In a public notice dated 30 October 2026, the company said Mr. Mwita is stepping down both as Chief Executive Officer and as an Executive Director. The board informed shareholders and the public under Paragraph 10 of the Thirteenth Schedule of the Capital Markets (Public Offers, Listings, and Disclosures) Regulations, 2023, which requires listed companies to disclose such changes.

The board thanked the outgoing CEO, saying it “takes this opportunity to express its sincere appreciation” for his dedication and contribution to the company. It also wished him “every success and the very best in his future endeavors.”

The notice gave no reason for the resignation. It also did not say who will succeed Mr. Mwita or whether an interim chief executive will be named.

The notice was signed by Company Secretary Catherine Kawira on behalf of the board. It carried a disclaimer saying it was issued for information purposes only and with the approval of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), which “assumes no responsibility for the correctness of the statements” in it.

The Standard Group is one of Kenya’s major media houses. Its brands include The Standard newspaper, KTN, Radio Maisha, The Nairobian, Spice FM and Berur FM.

The company is expected to update shareholders on the leadership transition in due course.
