Taita Taveta County Assembly has announced the death of nominated Member of the County Assembly Margaret Kawuki, who died while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa.
In a statement, Speaker of the County Assembly Wisdom K. Mwamburi said Kawuki passed away on the morning of October 29, 2026.
Kawuki, who represented the Jubilee Party, served as chairperson of the Committee on Gender and Culture and was a member of several other assembly committees until her death.
The county assembly leadership, members and staff extended their condolences to her family, friends and colleagues, praising her dedication and commitment to public service.
The assembly said further details regarding funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
