Two suspects have been arrested following a dramatic chase in Kisumu town during a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) operation targeting a series of alleged robberies involving Toyota Prado vehicles.
The suspects were reportedly traced while travelling in a Toyota Prado, registration number KDX 642Y, in connection with an earlier robbery involving another Prado, registration number KDK 440K.
The earlier incident occurred on October 23, 2026, when five people returning from a social outing were allegedly robbed.
During the operation at around 9pm near the Kisumu Boys roundabout, DCI officers reportedly opened fire at the suspects’ vehicle. Another suspect who attempted to flee was also arrested.
The two suspects are further accused of stealing a mobile phone from a woman in the Airport area of Kisumu.
The earlier robbery attracted public attention after CCTV footage reportedly helped investigators trace the vehicle’s registration number.
The suspects are being held at Kisumu Central Police Station as investigations continue.
